GitHub Trending Repos

Tests Daily updates Weekly updates

Subscribe to updates about new trending GitHub repositories in your favorite programming language. Receive updates through GitHub notifications once a day or once a week.

How it works

  1. Each issue in this repo corresponds to a particular programming language.
  2. A scheduled script fetches trending repositories for each language and posts a comment on the corresponding issue.
  3. All issue subscribers receive a GitHub notification with the latest trending repositories in the web interface notification icon or by email.

How to subscribe

To subscribe, browse the available languages and click the subscribe button button in the corresponding issue.

Schedule

You can choose daily or weekly notifications:

  • Daily: runs every day at 00:00 UTC. See issues labeled with trending-daily.
  • Weekly: runs every Friday at 03:00 UTC. See issues labeled with trending-weekly.

Example

Once a day (or once a week), you receive a notification in GitHub's web interface:

Watching the repo

If you watch this repo, you will receive many notifications about trending repositories across all languages. We recommend subscribing only to the issues you're interested in.

Is it better than RSS feeds or newsletters?

It's a matter of taste. Personally, I find it convenient for the following reasons:

  • I already use GitHub notifications, so trending repository updates fit seamlessly into my daily workflow.
  • I can quickly browse trending repositories without signing up for another service or viewing ads.
  • I can read automatically translated descriptions of non-English entries.
