Latest Updates

Dates below are publication or availability dates, not the date this list was edited. Older announcements remain in the topic sections. Review Mistral News, the API changelog, and product release notes for the complete history.

  • 2026-10-06 · Vibe 2.26.0 – Vibe now always runs on the Unified Harness and exits with an error instead of silently falling back to the legacy engine when its runtime is missing. The ~/.vibe/.env API-key fallback is now created owner-only (0600); keys saved there by earlier versions may still be readable by other local accounts. The Rust CLI (selected with VIBE_CLI) gains first-run onboarding, /teleport to Vibe Code Web, /voice and /loop, and now sends client usage telemetry; enable_telemetry = false in config.toml turns telemetry off.
  • 2026-09-29 · Model deprecations and GLM 5.3 GA – OCR 4.0 (mistral-ocr-4-0) and Leanstral 1.5 (labs-leanstral-1-5) were deprecated with retirement on 2026-09-30; OCR 4.1 (mistral-ocr-4-1 or mistral-ocr-latest) replaces OCR 4.0 at the same price. The third-party Z.ai GLM 5.3 (zai-glm-5-3) is now generally available, and GLM 5.2 (zai-glm-5-2) is deprecated with retirement on 2026-10-31.
  • 2026-09-28 · Mistral opens a Munich hub – German hub for physics and industrial AI, built around more than 30 physicists, researchers and engineers from the acquired Emmi AI. Mistral names work with BMW on crash simulation, with Siemens Energy on industrial applications, and a Technical University of Munich research partnership on automotive aerodynamics.
  • 2026-09-28 · Python SDK 3.0.0 – Major release: the SDK moves from httpx to httpx2 (custom clients must be HTTPX2 clients) and the agents extra to MCP 2.2. chat and agents completions no longer accept the web_search, web_search_premium and code_interpreter tools, which remain available through the Conversations and Agents APIs. Follow the migration guide before upgrading.
  • 2026-09-26 · Mistral CLI 0.7.0 – Adds mistral apps deploy/publish/unpublish/dev, an evals command group for the offline-evaluation lifecycle, mistral context for organization/workspace selection, login --api-key, and a daily GitHub-based update check.
  • 2026-09-22 · Vibe merges Chat and Work – Questions and tasks now start from one Vibe experience instead of separate tabs. The same release notes add spreadsheet (Excel/CSV) support in Vibe Work, Mini App Canvas for interactive apps and dashboards, and an Agentic Knowledge Base.
  • 2026-09-20 · CVE-2026-93993 – High-severity Mistral Vibe remote code execution: worktree creation ran a cloned repository's git hooks (e.g. post-checkout) before trust validation, letting a malicious repository run shell commands as the user. Fixed in Vibe 2.25.5 ("Worktree operations skip repository hooks", 2026-09-18); no Mistral MAI advisory number covers this CVE as of this review, so it is cited via the GitHub Advisory Database. Upgrade to 2.25.5 or later.
  • 2026-09-18 · Vibe 2.25.5 – The Unified Harness is no longer labelled experimental (--legacy-harness restores the Python harness); adds skill toggles, explicit-only skills and /loop in the VS Code extension. Later patches through 2.25.8 (2026-09-23) are fixes and Rust CLI improvements.
  • 2026-09-16 · Mistral × Mozilla – Firefox Smart Window (beta) now uses Mistral models. Mozilla's announcement names Mistral Small 4 for the US and Canada and adds French-language beta access in France; Mistral expects the UK and Germany to follow later this year and states that partners commit to zero data retention.
  • 2026-09-16 · Mistral CLI 0.6.0 – Adds prerequisite-driven capability activation and mistral apps capability list outside an app, caches registry descriptors, and reports failed scaffolding steps as failures.
  • 2026-09-15 · Python SDK 2.10.1 – Adds managed-index operations. Despite the patch version, it removes JudgeDefinition.model and prompt, replaces pipeline-config definition with definitions, and adds required response fields; read the breaking-change notes before upgrading.
  • 2026-09-15 · Z.ai GLM 5.3 in the catalog – Second third-party model hosted unmodified by Mistral (zai-glm-5-3, public preview, 1M context, $1.4/M input and $4.4/M output tokens); the new zai-glm-5 and zai-glm-latest aliases point to it. Not a Mistral model.
  • 2026-09-14 · MAI-2026-003 – High-severity advisory for Vibe shell permission vulnerabilities CVE-2026-87983 through CVE-2026-87988. CVE-2026-87983 was fixed in 2.19.1 and the others in 2.25.4; upgrade to 2.25.4 or later and restart active sessions.
  • 2026-09-12 · Vibe 2.25.4 – Shell permission security fixes later documented in MAI-2026-003, plus fixes for connector loading and workspace roots.
  • 2026-09-11 · Mistral CLI 0.5.0 – Adds trace/span/log retrieval and headless device login, strengthens OIDC validation, and requires existing Apps to migrate to descriptor v3 before capability changes.
  • 2026-09-10 · Mistral × Cloudera – Announced integration for inference across hybrid cloud, on-premises and air-gapped environments, alongside custom model training on enterprise data. The announcement describes planned integration, not general availability.
  • 2026-09-09 · Python SDK 2.10.0 / TypeScript SDK 2.7.0 – Breaking connector and observability changes, service-account APIs, and a fix for nullable transcription timestamps; inspect the migration details before upgrading.
  • 2026-09-09 · Legacy code modernization – Mistral's case study covers a 40,000-line Fortran-to-C++ migration within a 300,000-line system, using numerical parity checks, Vibe/OCR-assisted documentation and human review.
  • 2026-09-08 · Mistral raises €3B – Series D at a post-money valuation above €21B, led by Samsung Electronics with Scaleup Europe Fund (EQT) and PSG Equity; Mistral describes it as the largest equity round by a European technology company and earmarks it for frontier research, compute and international expansion.
  • 2026-08-31 · OCR 4.1 reaches general availability – mistral-ocr-4-1, first released July 16, is now GA. mistral-ocr-latest and mistral-ocr-4 point to this version.
  • 2026-08-24 · Mistral × HUMAIN – Announced collaboration on infrastructure, model localization and AI deployment in Saudi Arabia and the region; planned focus areas include Arabic, cybersecurity and voice.
  • 2026-08-20 · API key expiration policies – Public preview of organization/workspace validity limits and expiration notifications for new or rotated keys; existing keys are unaffected.
  • 2026-08-20 · Agentic Search – Retrieval tools for navigating and reading documents across sources, available through Search Toolkit, Studio and Vibe.
  • 2026-08-11 · Regional inference and European infrastructure – Regional endpoints, Priority Tier preview, third-party model hosting and European compute commitments. The catalog now serves its first third-party model, Z.ai GLM 5.2 (zai-glm-5-2, public preview, 1M context), hosted unmodified by Mistral and not a Mistral model.
  • 2026-08-04 · Shieldstral – Open-weight safety classifier accepting policies expressed in natural language.

Upcoming: the API changelog schedules the third-party zai-glm-5-2 retirement for 2026-10-31; zai-glm-5-3 replaces it. Downloadable weights and hosted API availability are separate; recheck the official schedule before migrating.
