Library Management

• Fast startup with manifest cache. Scan once, load instantly every time after.
• Drag and drop PKG folders onto the window to load them.
• Grouped list view. Group your library by Title, Title ID, Category, System Version, or PKG Type.

OrbisPkgTool Library

• Starting with v1.8.0, PS4 PKG Tool uses the native C# OrbisPkgTool library instead of Sony's orbis-pub-cmd.exe for supported PKG operations.
• Packages generated by OrbisPkgTool are experimental and have not been tested on a jailbroken PS4. Keep backups and use generated packages at your own risk.

Experimental PKG to FFPFSC Conversion

• Convert PS4 PKGs into FFPFSC images for ShadowMountPlus on jailbroken PS5 systems.
• This feature is experimental and has not yet been tested on real PS5 hardware. Keep the original PKG and verify converted output before relying on it.

Updates and Compatibility

• Latest Update column shows the newest available update version per PKG.
• Download official update PKGs from a standalone form.
• Filter the grid by category (Game, Patch, Addon, App) or search by filename, title, or ID.
• Set backport labels and check for duplicate PKGs.

shadPS4

shadPS4 Setup and Use

PS4 PKG Tool can manage shadPS4 builds, install owned PS4 PKGs into a shadPS4 game library, launch games, and manage save backups. shadPS4 compatibility data is informational only; a listed status does not guarantee that a game will run.

1. Open Tools > shadPS4 Manager.
2. In the Builds tab, install a managed core and launcher, or adopt an existing shadPS4 installation in the Settings tab.
3. Select the active core and launcher, then choose the shadPS4 game install folder if prompted.
4. Optional: in Program Settings, enable the shadPS4 compatibility column and download compatibility data.
5. Select a base-game PKG and any matching update PKG, then choose Install to shadPS4. The selected packages are added to the Tasks tab with the base game ordered before its update.
6. Open Tools > shadPS4 Manager > Games to launch an installed game. The Saves tab can create and restore save backups while shadPS4 is closed.

On a first launch after shadPS4 changes its save or trophy locations, shadPS4 may show a Save Migration prompt. Choose Copy to use the new location while retaining the old files as a backup. This prompt belongs to shadPS4, not PS4 PKG Tool.

PKG Viewer

Double-click a single .pkg file to open it directly in PS4 PKG Tool's standalone PKG Viewer.

The viewer shows package details, PARAM.SFO data, trophy and artwork information, file entries, extraction tools, and the File Browser with asset preview support.

To make PS4 PKG Tool the default app for .pkg files:

1. Right-click a .pkg file and choose Open with > Choose another app.
2. Select PS4 PKG Tool, or use Choose an app on your PC to select PS4 PKG Tool.exe.
3. Enable Always use this app to open .pkg files and confirm.

File Explorer .pkg Integration

Install the per-user File Explorer context menu from Program Settings > File Explorer Integration > Install Integration. No administrator permission is required. On Windows 11, open the classic menu with Show more options when needed.

The PS4 PKG Tool menu provides rename formats, copy Title/Title ID/Content ID, Validate PKG, Extract PKG, and Install to shadPS4 actions. It supports one or more selected .pkg files where the action allows it.

Use Remove Integration in Program Settings to remove only the PS4 PKG Tool context menu. It leaves your Windows default .pkg app unchanged.

Game Asset Viewer

Supported previews include PNG, JPEG, BMP, GIF, DDS, and PS4 GNF textures; text-based files; WAV, OGG, and ATRAC9 metadata; and a hex preview for unrecognized files. Unity bundles and serialized .assets files can be browsed to inspect contained files and supported Texture2D assets, including adjacent .resS stream data when available. Unreal Engine 4 PAK files can be listed and their entries browsed when the archive is not encrypted.

Some game formats cannot be decoded yet, including encrypted archives and unsupported compressed Unity bundles. In those cases, the viewer shows available metadata or a hex preview instead of modifying the PKG.

How to use Remote Package Installer

This is only compatible with PS4 firmware that can run Flatz's Remote Package Installer app. Split update PKG files are currently not supported.

• Open the program settings.
• Set the IP addresses for your PC and PS4.
• Install Node.js and the http-server module (ensure that Node.js is allowed through the firewall).
• If you are unable to install the http-server module via the PS4 PKG Tool, try restarting the tool and reinstalling the module. Alternatively, run npm install http-server -g manually in the command[...]
• Save the changes and exit the program settings.
• Launch the Remote Package Installer app on your PS4.
• Select the PKG file you wish to install, right-click on it, and choose 'Send PKG to PS4'.
