🐝 AI-powered browser assistant ("Cline for web browsing")
See the codeYour in-browser AI assistant. Control the web with natural language.
Important update (22/10/2025): I (Parsa) have stopped working on BrowserBee, so please proceed with caution. If you're curious, here's why I stopped: I built BrowserBee back in May to explore the effectiveness of an LLM-powered agent embedded directly within the browser with broad access to tools for observing and manipulating web pages. Since then, several "AI browsers" and browser extensions have come out: Comet by Perplexity, Atlas by OpenAI, Claude for Chrome by Anthropic (which I must admit looks supsciously similar to BrowserBee!), and many smaller ones, and of course Gemini in Chrome. Some like Dia by The Browser Company even got acquired for large sums. The main reason I stopped working on BrowserBee, however, is something else: it became clear to me that the tech, i.e. the current generation of LLMs interacting with web pages, just isn't there yet. The information density of a web page with standard representations (DOM, screenshot, etc) is an order of magnitude lower than that of, say, a document or piece of code, which is where LLMs shine. So we either need much better web page representations, or much more capable models, for this to work reliably. Having LLMs book flights by interacting with the DOM is sort of like having them code a web app using assembly. Given the sheer volume of investment going into this we should expect decent progress here over the coming months and years.
BrowserBee is a privacy-first open source Chrome extension that lets you control your browser using natural language. It combines the power of an LLM for instruction parsing & planning, and Playwright for robust browser automation to accomplish tasks.
Since BrowserBee runs entirely within your browser (with the exception of the LLM), it can safely interact with logged-in websites, like your social media accounts or email, without compromising security or requiring backend infrastructure. This makes it more convenient for personal use than other "browser use" type products out there.
