Law of Fairness Research Materials

This repository contains the primary research materials for the Law of Fairness, its scientific formulation known as Per-Stream Terminal Valence Closure, or PTVC, and the public releases associated with the ten-book Law of Fairness series.

The project begins with a simple question:

Could a conscious life be fair at the level of lived experience, even when its visible circumstances appear profoundly unequal?

PTVC turns one precise version of that question into a formal hypothesis that can be criticized, tested, narrowed, or refuted. The ten-book series carries the wider inquiry from its philosophical and scientific foundations into personal life, society, government, cities, constitutional design, economics, and the pursuit of lasting peace.

Core Hypothesis

On its primary finite signed measure branch, PTVC asks whether every separately routed maximal qualifying conscious stream carries equal finite positive and negative phenomenal magnitude across its complete strict pre-endpoint domain.

In compact form, the proposed terminal residual is:

Positive phenomenal magnitude minus negative phenomenal magnitude equals zero at the complete experiential boundary.

The equality is strictly intrastream and nontransferable.

One life does not balance another.

The hypothesis does not require lives to have equal circumstances, equal duration, equal intensity, equal opportunity, equal suffering, or equal gross experience.

Scientific Status

PTVC is a proposed candidate boundary hypothesis and research program.

It is not presented as an established scientific fact.

Its scientific value depends on whether its representation, measurement, endpoint, observation, identification, and falsification requirements can survive independent scrutiny.

The framework therefore distinguishes the target hypothesis from any proposed mechanism that might explain it.

A mechanism may fail while the target remains open. A mechanism may also fit without proving the target.

Falsifiability

The strongest PTVC branch is intentionally vulnerable to counterevidence.

A single gate-valid qualifying stream whose defensible truth-containing terminal residual excludes zero is sufficient to refute the declared exact universal branch.

The framework also specifies conditions under which evidence must remain inconclusive or receive a No adequate estimate result.

Population averages, favorable subgroups, or another conscious stream cannot erase a valid counterexample.

What the Framework Tests

The research program addresses questions including:

  • Whether positive and negative phenomenal magnitude can be represented on a defensible common scale
  • Whether the neutral origin can be calibrated independently of terminal outcomes
  • Whether conscious streams can be identified and routed without duplication or post-outcome adjustment
  • Whether complete-stream exposure can be reconstructed with defensible uncertainty
  • Whether the final qualifying conscious endpoint can be identified independently
  • Whether observed reports, behavior, physiology, neural signals, and clinical records can support valid measured-to-latent inference
  • Whether PTVC predictions outperform equally resourced rival models
  • Whether exact zero can be distinguished from approximate balance, measurement noise, selection, or observation effects
  • What evidence would support, narrow, or refute the hypothesis

The Ten Books of Fairness

The Law of Fairness is a ten-book series that carries the project from its central question and scientific foundation into personal life, social institutions, civic design, constitutional structure, and the pursuit of lasting peace.

The books are being released publicly so readers can examine the complete project, challenge its assumptions, discuss its proposals, and follow the ideas from theory into practice.

The Law of Fairness

The first book establishes the foundation of the series and develops its central question at the scale of lived experience.

It explores why lives can appear profoundly unequal from the outside while asking whether a deeper form of fairness could exist within each complete conscious stream. It introduces the Law of Fairness, its boundaries, its relationship to PTVC, and the wider questions that the remaining nine books examine.

The book also includes the Illustrated Guide to Fairness and connects the central hypothesis to the larger effort to understand what fairness could mean for individuals, institutions, civilization, and peace.

Ethical Boundary

Nothing in the Law of Fairness or PTVC justifies harming anyone, withholding care, minimizing suffering, or attempting dangerous self-testing.

Rights, dignity, welfare, informed consent, privacy, and the direct alleviation of suffering remain independently important regardless of whether the hypothesis is ultimately supported or rejected.

The research program begins with safe nonterminal studies and advances only when the required scientific and ethical gates are satisfied.

The Law does not imply that suffering is deserved, that pain is payment, that joy creates a moral debt, or that one conscious stream can compensate for another.

Open Invitation

The purpose of publishing these materials is not to ask for belief.

It is to make the Law of Fairness, PTVC, and the wider ten-book project available for serious public examination.

Read the work. Test the assumptions. Challenge the mathematics. Improve the measurements. Compare stronger rivals. Look for counterexamples. Question the practical proposals.

If the framework survives scrutiny, strengthen it.

If it fails, identify exactly where and why.

If the practical ideas can be improved, help improve them.

The goal is to turn serious inquiry into knowledge, and knowledge that survives scrutiny into meaningful work.
